My husband and I brought our 3 year old granddaughter to The Bull for an early supper. Her favourite is mac and cheese and the one at The Bull was one of the best that we have ever had at a restaurant. Her child portion was large enough for suppper with some leftovers for lunch the next day. My husband and I ordered the Bangalor Cod and the Shepherds Pie.Both were beautifully serve, delicious and plentiful. Kudos to the chef!! Staff was friendly and accommodating. Lion on the Beach is great place to relax, drink and eat. The food to date has always been delicious and scores high points in presentation and originality. While it is the disguise as regular pub fare, it would appear to be more tantilizing than one would have expected. The atmosphere is soothing and fun much like the rest of the beaches. The services can be a bit irradict due to overflow of customers but has always been exceptional. Hello, I go to restaurants and everybody around me seems miserable - I went to Aristotles the other day and I was having my dinner, which I will get into later, and then I heard a "HUGE" belly laugh, I looked up and it was the owner, I thought to myself, this guy seems happy. A few minutes later, another belly laugh while he was talking to some people at another table. I am like wow, either this guy is really happy or he is missing a few screws. Anyway, a few minutes later, he came by my table to check on me, he had a smile from ear to ear and asked how everything was. Everything was great, I told him. His attitude and personality put me in the best mood and we have barely had a verbal exchanged - I was thinking to myself, why can't more people in this business be like this guy?? I left in a great mood, and the atmosphere made my day! I came to the conclusion that he is NOT missing a few screws, he has the right idea and puts people in great moods. In respect to the food, the Burger has to be, probably the best I have had since I can remember. Came with a side of fries that were nice and hot! I have been going to Satay on the Road off and on for the better part of 15 years and have never once in that time had a disappointing meal. The food is always fantastic and despite having tried a myriad of different items I always come away from Satay satisfied. Of particualr note are one of the appetizers and one of the mains. First, the appetizer. Golden Baskets. They should call them by their full name...Golden Baskets of Amazing Tasty-ness with Just the Right Amount of Flavourful Spicy Goodness. I guess there isn't enough room on the menu for that though. These and the spring rolls are the perfect combo to kick off your meal. The second is Cashew Nut Chicken. I still hold Satay on the Road's Cashew Nut Chicken up as the gold standard for this dish. On a recent visit it made me miss Toronto...it is that good! The drinks list is kitschy too...they have their cocktail menu on those paper place-mats that used to be all the rage back in the '70s. Ah nostalgia. Anyway, located in the heart of Bayview Village...the area not the mall...Satay on the Road is a must dine for anyone who loves Thai and Malaysian food! Read more
