This restaurant has some of the most interesting decor I have ever seen. It looks like my vision of a mediterranean restaurant from the '70s...which makes it even funnier that this is a Thai restaurant. All that aside, the food forgives all mistakes the decor makes. They make a very decent cashew nut chicken and all of their yellow and green curry options are really good. The spring rolls are outstanding and the sauce makes them even better. Hit the Thai House next time you're looking for really good Thai food.Read more

I try and hit up Rodney's whenever I am in Van.
Located on trendy Hamilton St. it's got some serious character. Sit at the bar for a great view of the oyster shucking and some lively chat with the bartenders. Staff is friendly with plenty of personality. They have an oyster happy hour 4-6pm (if I remember correctly) where it's half price oysters. And seeing as many of the oysters and ingredients come right out of the ocean around BC the food is beyond fresh.
And in case you were wondering, this place has the best selection of oysters I have seen yet. 11 different kinds on the last visit. My favorites being Fanny Bay and Kushi. Good selection of craft beer on tap too.Read more

I've never eaten any of the brunch or light lunch selections at this great little cafe but they make absolutely amazing lattes and other espresso drinks. The snacks are really good but I have had the occasional dry muffin here...likely a result of trying to make them healthy. On that note about healthy food Agro seems very dedicated to using locally sourced, organic ingredients and beverages. Of particular note are their tea lattes. Artfully prepared and delicious down to the last dribble...try the red latte with raspberry syrup...outstanding! The service is a little slow when there is a line-up. They seem to be working out kinks on the transaction side because once your order is in its super fast. The value is what you would expect for an espresso bar. Its not ordinary and its not crazy expensive either.
All in all a great place to grab a hot beverage and snack to fuel your stroll around Granville Island!Read more
