We have gone to this restaurant over a dozen times and always are pleased with our meal. For the price, you really can't beat it. The atmosphere is very nice. It's a big restaurant and the tables are spaced apart nicely so you can have a conversation without worrying about everyone around you hearing. And they have great big circular booths that are usually available - a great touch. We have our regular server - I believe his name is Pavel - and he's fantastic. He's not pushy, he's unobtrusive and always friendly. One of the city's best waiters for sure. When it comes to the food, the taste is great. I usually enjoy a pasta as a main and for appetizers we mix it up. The selection is great and I've never had a meal I didn't enjoy. The prices are fantastic. For a downtown Toronto restaurant like this I'm always amazed when I get the bill. Often times we have two appetizers, two entrees and a full bottle of wine and the bill still comes to under $100. Our absolute favourite for authentic italian. You know the restaurant is a gem when the local Italians eat there with their whole families (babies too!). As Marcello's is always packed, go early to get a seat (especially if your party is larger than 4) or expect to wait in line at least 30 minutes or longer. Service is prompt when seated and the lively atmosphere makes it very homey. The waiters are efficient, no-nonsense and definitely not snobby(as in other places), and they know the menus. On regular nights we share an appetizer, and dessert with our meals and we are stuffed!! The tirimisu is home made and heavenly; you could easily have seconds. I have been to other restaurants on College street, and quite honestly, at Marcello's the dishes are on par and above on quality. Combine the quality of food, with good portion sizes, very reasonable pricing, and you will see why Marcello's is always packed!! Read more
