We went to Atomica on a weekday for lunch and got a seat by the window. The decor is really unique and we could see how the place could easily fill up and become very loud since it is all one big room (plus a patio). Thankfully, it was very quiet during the hour we were there (11:30ish) since it was so early in the day.
The server was very professional, attentive without being pushy.
The funghi pizza was apparently very good but my dining companion said that a big-box store carries a frozen one that is even tastier. I created my own with spicy tomato sauce, pulled chicken, feta and roasted red peppers, which was very nice.
Overall, the quality is good and the price is a little high but it's a nice occasional dining out venue and they support local growers, which is appreciated.Read more

The Toucan and Kirkpatrick's is one Kingston's best Irish-British Pubs. This is, "the local," for many 21-40+ Kingstonians.
The Great selection of beers and liquor, live music at least one day a week, daily specials and sunday breakfast special, make this establishment a favorite. The staff is friendly, and the food is reasonably priced and is usually quite good. However, this place is a Pub first, then a Restaurant. It is solid UK+US "Pub Grub." Wings, Nachos, Meat Pies, Bangers and Mash Fish n' Chips are reliably awesome.
The review below is not an accurate depiction of the place, however, it may well take 45mins on a Sunday morning or afternoon to get food quickly due to the $3.50 breakfast special and the hangover destructing properties inherent to the aura of the toucan, which draw many over-zealous drinkers.Read more

I've been to Darbar twice. The first time I had the lunch special with a beef curry (don't recall exactly what kind), and thought that it was bland, uninteresting, and it had no heat at all, surprising because I ordered it "hot"
The second time I was invited to dinner with a visiting relative. I was reluctant to agree to this restaurant due to my previous experience, but we went nonetheless.
This time, I ordered the lamb dansak, and was completely blown away. It was definitely among the best dishes I have ever eaten at a restaurant. The flavour was bold and complex but balanced, and with enough heat to make the dish exciting to eat. I had a taste of the other dishes at the table, which ranged from good to so-so, but my order was truly excellent.
Both times, the service was prompt and polite, and the staff was very attentive without being intrusive.
If all of the dishes on the menu were comparable to my last visit, I would not hesitate to give Darbar five stars for food. Unfortunately, many items are underperformers.
Overall, if you didn't like Darbar, it's worth another shot - you probably just ordered the wrong item the first time.Read more

Decent clean food, HUGE portions. Really nice qulity food but we were rushd to put our order in. Nevertheless, we enjoyed take out and will return for seconds and thirds. By comparitive standards, this place is excellent in this small city and the food is comparable to what you will find in a big city like Montreal or Kingston. Tasty but a wee bit expensive. Oh and ONE plate is large enough for two people.Read more

This little fish and chip shop on main street in Prescott is by far the best in the Ottawa area. I have tried a couple others in Brockville and still will drive out a little farther to have the food from here. It is take-out mostly but does have a sitdown type bar with a few stools for while you wait and the staff is always pleasant. The batter on the fish is wonderful, the filling is mostly fish and not batter alone, as some other places offer, and the fries are to die for also; never over cooked and home-made. They have stuffed mushrooms and recently when I was there a new menu item of the great fries with finely ground and seasoned hamburger and melted cheese with green onion and hot jalapena peppers -- hmm hmmm very good. The owner is really named Tim and is a very nice guy who is often on site. Reasonable prices for all you get with some left over.Read more
Visited for lunch on Sept.15th 2010.
The atmosphere is very nice in this restaurant, and the service was fast and friendly (thank you Lynn). Our meal choices appeared on our table in a timely manner and the food was delicious. Two thumbs up for Fiddleheads.
If we are ever back in Perth, we will definitely visit this restaurant again.Read more
This review is for early December 2010. Group of about 12 people for lunch buffet on a weekday. I believe the total cost with a pop was about $14 each including tip and tax so that was great.
As in my other review, we felt like Kingston had no decent Chinese until Panda Garden came along. We've had buffet there several times as party of two but this was the first bigger group. We had called ahead for a table, which was smart as the place was full for lunch.
The buffet for Panda Garden was always impressive for variety and regular turnover/top-ups of the hot dishes but they expanded a couple of years ago to try some basic Thai and sushi dishes. The Thai and sushi are not the world's greatest but they are fine and nice for variety and that's ok because Kingston has so many other specialty restaurants for that if you want it.
The variety of ice cream and desserts, as mentioned in other reviews, is impressive though we rarely make space for it in our multiple tours around the hot and cold stuff.
What we enjoy about the buffet are:
- wonton soup with green onions on the side if you like to add them
- egg rolls
- sweet and sour chicken balls
- General Tao chicken
- other beef and vegetable dishes depending on what's there that day
We find going in around 4:30-4:45pm on weekdays when the dinner service is getting started is ideal. Everything is fresh and hot and not as crowded as it is at 5:00pm or later. We haven't had a problem with food sitting around but then we don't try to go for buffet at mid-afternoon either.
We have always found the buffet servers to be pleasant and efficient with taking away dirty plates, topping up soft drinks and preparing the bill. Atmosphere is clean and pleasant with ample space to walk around with plates of food.Read more
