Everything you need to know about making the best vegan pizza

Whether for health reasons or moral obligation, more and more people are switching to a vegan diet. There are a variety of health benefits to veganism, but sometimes it makes it impossible to enjoy the foods you once loved.

  • This isn't the case for pizza, though.

Vegan pizza crust

Every pizza, vegan or not, must have a crust.

  • Unfortunately, commercial dough could contain animal fat or eggs.
  • Luckily, there are pre-made vegan choices on the market.
  • Additionally, there are many tutorials on how to make vegan pizza dough available online.

Tomato sauce isn't necessarily vegan

Many vegans have come across the unfortunate discovery that tomato sauce may actually have animal byproducts in it.

  • There are vegan sauces on the market, and you may choose to make your own.

Toppings are the spice of life

This is where some serious flavour comes in. There are obviously a variety of toppings that can be added to a vegan pizza.

  • Some of the most obvious are mushrooms, sliced bell peppers and onions, and there are a few toppings that just go well when put together. How about an onion, rosemary and sliced potato topped pizza?
  • Or you could try red onions, squash, zucchini and even some pistachios.
  • Oh, and never forget that there is such a thing as vegan bacon.

Cheese isn't off the table for vegans

This is another aspect of making a vegan pizza that really provides the opportunity to make a delicacy. Vegan cheese? If you're new to the vegan lifestyle, this may just sound crazy to you.

  • Those who have been at it for a while, though, know that there are a variety of different vegan cheeses out there.

Baking your vegan pie

Once you've got your dough ready, tomato sauce spread out and favourite toppings and cheeses ready to go, it's time to get this pizza crisp and ready to devour.

  • Preheat your oven to 550 degrees. Yes, this may seem high, but trust us: it will work.
  • Put your work of vegan magnificence in the oven and allow to bake for 8-10 minutes.
  • Leave it in until the cheese has melted and the crust is brown.
