Wow, where to start! Being a big girl in this day and age has its difficulties but fortunately the Gulf’s is able to accommodate my frequent “over the top demands”. The staff was excellent! By providing a second server for my single person table it enabled me to indulge in the spectacular mains at the same time. The unique atmosphere at the Gulf’s aloud me, a person of somewhat generous proportions to satisfy my hunger in a private, partitioned section in the back left area of the dinning room. The French onion soup was delicious yet a bit tiny in portion size (but I always say that-hehe). Luckily the “Chateau Briand for one” and “back ribs” made up for the voids in my stomach. Our server Shannon was fabulous. We were not rushed through our meal. Three in our party ordered the prime rib and it was very good and prepared perfect. The green beans which were served with all the meals were fresh. The seafood platter had a descent size lobster tail as well as the scallops and shrimp. The grilled chicken was very flavourful. I would highly recomend others to dine there.
My son ordered the escargot and loved it. He had the calamari too, but it looked commercial - the breading was crumbly and clung too close to the squid to be fresh. The porterhouse was cooked to well on the outer perimeter and medium at the bone when it was ordered medium rare. The vegetable lasagna had deliciously huge chunks of summer squash and cauliflower in it, but some grease pooled in the bottom of the baking dish it was presented in. The bartender did a fair job of mixing the margarita on the rocks even though they normally only serve frozen margaritas. Service was adequate, but not engaging.
Sorry but my other review I forgot to change the ratings so I resent this with the proper ratings. We were celebrating our belated Anniversary and had our daughter with us. We love this place but as it is upscale/bit pricey we don't go often. However, our food was fantastic as was the service. Our waitress Amanada was awesome and even the young boy who filled our water glasses was very nice and professional. My daughter(who had never been there before) commented that is was a classy place. The ribs were so tender and just fell off the bone, the baked potato and broccoli were so tender and done to perfection.The salad bar was good not the best in the world but still good. The orange rought was delicious and cooked perfectly. Apparently the fudge cake was delicious but a little to rich for one person to eat the whole thing, so hubby and daughter shared it. The strawberry cheesecake was alright, not the best I have ever had..but it was pretty good. All in all great food, excellent service and fantastic waitress Amanada.....keep up the great work.
