I have taken my 8 year old daughter there on several occasions for supper. Every time we eat well, are treated well and get to relax and actually enjoy each others company. I love how the staff makes my daughter feel special by remembering her, using her name, actually talking to her and listening to her answers. On top of all that the food is delicious and affordable. I work in customer service, so I understand that things don't always go as planned. It is how an establishment deals with their mistakes that really shows how good they are , in my humble opinion. We go to Swiss Chalet all the time, the food is always hot and delicious and up to the Swiss Chalet Standard, the service is usually pretty good, quick for sure and the restaurant smells good and is clean. We often order take out from this location, and we have had a few problems, orders not being filled correctly, no gravy for the poutine, little things like that. One time we ordered and they called back 30 minutes later to tell us there was a snow storm and the delivery person went home! Needless to say I complained. I got a personal response from the Manager appologizing for our bad experience and comping us for two 1/4 chicken dinners! WOW, I thought that was just great. I get that mistakes are made, but I have never had anyone take responsibility and compensate me so quickly and politely! Since then we have ordered a few times and we haven't had anymore problems. The food was pretty good...but it isn't that inexpensive. Our 1/2 litre of wine - really good Cab Sauv suggested by our quite competent waiter -was $24.95! Threw us a bit...but our fault as we didn't check the price first :) Pretty nice wine, though. We each had the soup of the day which was very good and came with garlic toast plus we split the nachos which were good as well. I have no complaints...We sat in the bar and the waiter/bartender provided excellent service. I was actually surprised that it was so good...LOL.... Read more

We went for dinner recently as we live in the area and love the Wooly for its atmosphere, choice of beers on tap etc....I just really wish that the food was better..as I remain quite surprised at the overall 'averageness' of the entrees here. Yes, they use locally grown, organic ingredients...I get and support that..but the portion size and flavour leave me unimpressed. Service is always great...and the beer is plentiful and cold...but I think I'll just start going there for beers and maybe fries (which can be hit and miss)...there are just much better places close by (IMO) to get a better pub meal. I will say that of our three meals...mine was the best..a traditional chicken burger with salad..the house dressing was nice. Based on our experience I would not recommend the Cobb salad (very small portion and was drenched in ranch dressing) or the chicken tenders which were just average. Read more

Sorry to hear about you coat!! We take that very seriously at Franks. We have in the past taken calls and always have dealt with our customers in a very professional manner. I would advise to all bar partrons not to coat check an expensive coat. As far as food goes in Franks, yes I would agree that the food has not been 5 star but just recently we have brought on a new menu and we believe that the food has improved dramtically. People don't expect fine dinning this is a bar. Furthermore we have been around for 9 years and our kitchen is open till 2am. We do have a limited menu from 11pm to 2am. It is my mandate to improve the overall expereince at Franks!! This does include Food!! We hope people will give us another try!! Our atmosphere, service, and live music is always on the ball. I have been to Golden Basil twice in the last month...both times I had very enjoyable meals..maybe not the best Thai food that I've ever had but certainly adequate. Actually, more than adequate. I love this place! Their sushi is actually DELICIOUS!!! I'm always full after I go here...in fact, I vomited once from being too full. I love that they have stamp cards!!! So fun!! Their signature 'hockey sushi' is seriously SLAMMIN!!! However, I discovered a fish bone in the sushi once...and upon closer inspection, I found out that the outer layer of the hockey sushi is actually fish skin! This turned me off! I wish I hadn't made that discovery because this roll is fantastic. The location is fairly remote... my GPS was going completely NUTS on the way here.
