We come here to celebrate our one year anniversary and only because they have $1 oysters after 5pm. We figured we would have a 5 or 6 dozen and then head out to a lite dinner and some dancing. We never left Biffs. From the amazing service to having the evening manager come over to talk to us, everything here was wonderful. We ended up eating 8 dozen oysters, a bottle of champagne andtwo bottles of wine as well as the Scotch Eggs, Oh me oh my the scotch eggs here are to die for and you will not regret ordering them. We stayed for 5 hours enjoying thre ambience and each others talks. At the end of the night ( we closed the restaurant ) they brought us a complimentry dessert with happy anniversary wriiten in chocolate on it. Nice touch! Fabulous food! I have walked by on several occasions and was certainly not disappointed when finally trying their place. You can tell the food is made from scratch and with skill. The real buffalo mozzarella in the caprese is a nice change and the lamb was cooked perfectly. Ambiance was nice and relaxed, not overly noisy. Waiters are very nice and attentive. We had the brunch/lunch menu. The waitresses were very attentive. Served right away. Food was quite tasty, although the only negative part about it was that it came out a lukewarm. The catfish lafyette was delicious! Yam and yukon hash was good, but would've been better if served hot, as potatoes tend to get rubbery when it gets cold. The ribs were not bad either. Even a snowstorm doesn't keep Toronto diners down, as we discovered last weekend at Jump in January. It was quieter than usual due to the weather, but our food was very good. We had an extremely affable waiter from England. The service started out a bit slow, with water poured and wine ordered but 25 minutes before some bread arrived. If we hadn't been so hungry beforehand we might not have noticed. Otherwise, the food was excellent. The Bacon-Wrapped Boneless Quail appetizer was absolutely delicious. The Wild & Tame Mushroom Soup was good, but as we told our server, it needed some cream to give it more depth and round out the taste. The Mahogany-Glazed Black Cod with Lentils was very good, and my partner had the delicious Beef Tenderloin. We'll come back again, but the pacing is a bit slow, so you can't be in a hurry if you're dining here. Read more

The first thing i notice when i walked into POGUE MAHONES was that all the waitresses wore plaid thigh-length skirts - i am glad i arrived here! It is a kind of dark place with dark wood all over. Also it is a very busy and noisy place, i can barely hear myself talking. The waiters/waitresses were very attentive as they came back every once in awhile to check on our needs a few times. All of our food arrive fresh and hot. My coffee was fresh and scalding hot, it came in a generous sized mug too. My seafood chowder was hot and it was very creamy, not bad! My chicken wings were satisfactory, no complaints here! Okay now my Grand Spuds with irish-poutine-style sucked!!! The fries had melted cheese and gravy on top, but the freshcut homemade fries, tasted totally off. My friend who had fries in his dish also complained about the fries tasting YUCK! My other friends were very satisfied with their dishes (fish n chips, liver n onions w mashed potato, chicken pot pie w mashed potatoes, jambalaya).
