The menu is not extensive and there was no overall 'theme' but the food we had was pretty good. They recommended a great wine and the waitress was excellent - both friendly and helpful.
We booked at the last minute and were glad we did. Not a fine dining experience if that is what you want but a comfortable experience. We split a salad and the entree portions were a good size. My husband had a Thai noodle type dish and he really enjoyed it. I had the prime rib which came as I requested. We didn't have dessert but marvelled at a couple of plates that went by.

This is a quaint little inn hidden in the woods besides a rushing Ontario river. Gourmet food and excellent service. True sense of history is evident in the little touches like former mill machinery used as furnishings and decorations througout.

Just had the fish and chips and the hummus avocado wraps. Amazingly flavourful and fresh tasting. Lots of healthy options and some unhealthy favorites too! Great service. Will be back.

Went here with friends. They been here before My wife and I had not. Our server ask if we been before and then helped us on some questions we had about the menu. Dave was very helpful with our decisions. He did not rush us and was very patient. Our english is not great but he was able to understand and help us with deciding. The wrap and roll platter was a great taste of different items and coconut shrimp was very good. We order many different dishes to try and share. Dave mentioned they were big portions and he was right. We had lots of leftovers for next day. The decor was very nice and relaxing. not very busy though. Look forward to coming back and enjoying another nice evening wih great food and service.

I brought in a tour group of 33 people and the manager Jodi and her staff were waiting for us when we arrived. They provided great service and the food was very good. The group all voted they would go back again! Thank you so much! Our travel date was on 9/24/11 and arrived around 6:15pm for dinner. It was also nice being a family restaurant you could order wine, beer etc. One of the ladies in our group was having a birthday and the staff provided a slice of choc. cake and sang Happy B-day!

I highly recommend Kipps Lane Fish n Chips! I was hard pressed to find a classic fish n chip joint such as I had adored as a teen in Toronto in the mid 1970s. A true, halibut fish, hand filleted with the classic, puffed up batter and golden fries is a rare treat to still find these days especially from a family owned and operated restaurant who are so friendly and who take pride in what they serve you. Its very clean and your order is up and ready within 15 mins with a smile. Its just so YUM!

I recall eating at a Montana’s Grill a few months ago and enjoying an Aunt Emma’s meatloaf. This past Saturday my wife and I had a yearning to try it again, so we went to a relatively new Montana’s in Hyde Park and discovered that it was now listed on the menu as a “Cookhouse Meatloaf” and promoted as being one of the restaurant’s “favourites”. I can see why. Quite frankly, this was by far the best meatloaf I have ever tasted in my life, and at 73 that’s saying quite a lot. Sure you can eat meatloaf at a number of places but I bet you can’t beat having a more delicious one at Montana’s in Hyde Park.

Easily the best place to eat north of London Ontario. We go on vacation every year to Bayfield and stop by for a meal on the way up and on the way back. My first visit was pleasant enough. We were greeted right away and accomodated for our party of 5. At first I was not really impressed with only the 'make your own stirfry' option for dinner but was told it was excellent. Tons of selection of meats, veggies and sauces...wasn't sure where to start! Guys at the fryer seemed to really enjoy their jobs, it was very entertaining to watch. Food was really yummy. Atmosphere was alright, didn't really notice any defectives like others are posting. Waitress was somewhat reliable in refilling our drinks. When it comes to tipping, the guys at the fryer really earn theirs however not sure about the waitresses as all they did was bring us water....nothing from the menu was ordered. The only downside to this place is the price (15.99 per person Mon-Thurs is the deal we did) but I guess for others it's an awesome price for the food.

I highly recommend Rene's for anyone who enjoys fine dining but doesn't want to experience "sticker shock" when the cheque arrives.
While I enjoy fine food, I don't tend to enjoy "upscale" restaurants. The staff are usually haughty, the portions wouldn't satisfy a hummingbird, and I'm supposed to be impressed just because they artistically drizzled some raspberry sauce along the side of the plate.
Rene's Bistro was a very pleasant surprise! While the menu choices were creative and the food delicious, the atmosphere was bustling and friendly. If felt more like a neighborhood cafe, and there were obviously both a lot of locals and tourists there.
Best of all: no sticker shock.
