We were greeted at the door by a respectful very friendly young woman named kirsten, then brought to our nice roomy comfortable booth at the side of the restaurant. we were greeted by our server straight away, Tina, who Brought our first round of drinks. Once we saw the menu we ordered nice and quickly, the menu was quite detailed. Salad and bread was brought to our table and the feast began. when tina brought our food to the table i joked that i might have to take it home. I was able to eat a couple of pieces and she kindly packed the rest up for me. I enjoyed the NY theme in this resaurant. On Wednesdays Montana's has an "all you can eat beef rib night", its worth the trip and go there hungry. They have 2 choices of beef ribs "back" or "side" ribs, back ribs are more tender and have more meat on them. Its a fantastic meal and very delicious, I find myself dreaming of those ribs the rest of the week. Sadly they do not offer the same meal any other night of the week, its a one night only affair, the rest of the week they offer only a pork bone substitute for "Ribs" which is not at all like on rib night. Another annoying thing is you cannot switch rib type once you start so choose carefully. I know they have Rib night in several other Montana's restaurants in the Ottawa area on the same night but I don't know if it's chain wide, check with your local restaurant. If you only have a one hour lunch then this is definitely NOT the place for you to eat at that time. We arrived and it was busy. The place seems cramped but it appearred to be clean. We had reserved a table for noon and waited a while to get seated. When the waitress finally made it to our table we ordered drinks and our food at the same time. It took a long time just to get our drinks and a very long time for our food. It ended up being an hour and a half lunch. Most other restaurants in the area offer a quick lunch so people can get back to work in a timely fashion. This is where The Wood falls drastically short. The food was good, this I will not dispute. By burger was juicy and cooked perfectly and the salad with balsamic dressing was fresh and nice also. Unfortunately the speed of service will have to keep me away from this restaurant. Read more

I love this place. Best clubs in Ottawa. The atmosphere is a bit stale (sort of a dark old sports bar type of feel), and their prices are a bit on the high side, but their food is so darn good. I came here for lunch a few months ago and was very impressed. We arrived just as the place opened up; the upstairs dining area had not been opened yet. Regardless, I asked if we could have a table on the upper level and the wait staff accommodated our request and opened up the upstairs area and we were given the option to have our choice of any table we wanted. We chose a table on the North side of the restaurant with a great view of the By-ward Market. My burger tasted a little dry but as I had never tried buffalo or bison before I didn't know if that was normal or not. Aside from that the atmosphere was so nice I probably would have even enjoyed a bad meal in that restaurant, sitting where I was. Read more
