After learning I would be dining alone tonight, I decided to try a tiny little place I had heard mentioned recently. My waiter was attentive, pleasant and quite knowledgeable about the food he was serving. The overall atmosphere was pleasing and would be the perfect setting for a romantic meal. The choices offered, combined with the soothing surroundings peaked my curiousity enough that I decide for the second time in the evening to try something new. I tried the Bison burger with Warm Potato salad. The server described it to me as a Bison burger with caramelized onions, smoked cheddar, truffle scented mushrooms and barbecue sauce. Jake & Humphreys make all their own bread items that appear on their menu, the combination of the Bison, toppings on a fresh and soft bun, made the whole item a palate pleaser. A nice glass of South African Cabernet Sauvignon enhanced what was already a sumptious dining experience. I will be returning to the restaurant again, definitely a great place to dine, relax and enjoy. Perhaps next time I will take someone with me or perhaps I will again go and enjoy another romantic meal for one! Hopefully next time I have room for dessert as they looked promising! Read more

I work in customer service, so I understand that things don't always go as planned. It is how an establishment deals with their mistakes that really shows how good they are , in my humble opinion. We go to Swiss Chalet all the time, the food is always hot and delicious and up to the Swiss Chalet Standard, the service is usually pretty good, quick for sure and the restaurant smells good and is clean. We often order take out from this location, and we have had a few problems, orders not being filled correctly, no gravy for the poutine, little things like that. One time we ordered and they called back 30 minutes later to tell us there was a snow storm and the delivery person went home! Needless to say I complained. I got a personal response from the Manager appologizing for our bad experience and comping us for two 1/4 chicken dinners! WOW, I thought that was just great. I get that mistakes are made, but I have never had anyone take responsibility and compensate me so quickly and politely! Since then we have ordered a few times and we haven't had anymore problems. I have been living here for just a month and really wanted to see what Guelph had to offer with japanese cuisine! Many of my friends suggested that I try w sushi so I decided to go with one of my girlfriends that was a returning customer. We arrived for dinner and was greeted with the most kind and helpful waitress ever, we were seated and brought drinks. Our waitress was very helpful, her English was okay, but there was a server there who had perfect English so communication was not a problem. The place was pretty full and busy but not with large groups so the place wasnt loud. The food was very good and the rice was warm and moist, which means they just cooked it. I had a lot to eat and would definitely recommend their sweet shrimp banana roll and the guelph roll, they were both fabulous!
