The date of this moveable feast changes each year, and this year Pancake Day 2021 is Tuesday, February 16.

What is Pancake Tuesday all about?

As the tradition goes, Christian churchgoers in the United Kingdom would confess their sins on Shrove Tuesday, then return home to enjoy a feast. To prepare for Lent, they then sought to use up their supplies of eggs, butter, and milk, and a good pancake recipe was an easy way to do just that. As the tradition spread throughout Europe, including France, recipes for waffles, crèpes, donuts, and King cake became part of the local custom.
