Has making three meals a day at home got you down? Enlist some help, and turn meal prep into a fun afternoon with the family.

Ask the kids to pick a dinner dish, whether it’s an old favourite like mac ‘n’ cheese or a chance to try a new recipe. Put on your best aprons, set up your smartphone’s video camera, and get cooking. Studies have shown that even the pickiest eaters with dig into food they’ve helped to cook.

Skip the sweats and set a dress code for all. Be it formal wear, matching PJs, or colour-themed, make it suit your tribe’s vibe.  Find the best natural light in your home, line your troops up and start snapping away. A remote shutter device for your smartphone or camera is ideal for this, but timer apps work well, too.

Wrap up the activity with a nice dinner that’s worthy of your up levelled look (that special recipe you made in your at-home cooking show!?). Later, gather around the computer for a photo-viewing session where everyone gets to vote on which photos make it into the family album.
